I heard a while back that Robert Rodriguez was set to produce a movie based on the original film Predator. Reportedly he wants people to forget all of the crap sequels to the original film and consider his to be the ‘real’ sequel. Why? Does yet another film about those pesky Rastafarian looking bad asses have to be made. In one word…NO!!!
As most people know Rodriguez will not be directing this, rather Nimrod Antal will be taking on that role. Now, the only thing that I have seen this man direct is Vacancy, which was okay but it certainly wasn’t an action epic. I mean, if Predators takes place in a motel on their world then we’ll be in good hands, right? Now who is writing this little ditty? It’s not Rodriguez! That’s right, what you see on the big screen is not going to come from him! Instead two unknown script writers named Michael Finch and Alex Litvak were hired, I’m assuming, by the studio to ‘retreat’ Rodriguez’s original script. What that tells me is that Rodriguez does not have complete control behind the scenes when it comes to how the film is going to turn out. He may be the producer in name but it’s the studio that has complete control.
So, what is this new film going to be all about? If you don’t want to know do not read any further! Are your eyes covered? Good! Well, apparently the predators kidnap 8 humans, dump them on their planet in a game reserve and go hunting. Now why the fuck would the Predators kidnap humans to do that when Aliens are far better game when it comes to hunting? Logically, without weapons, humans are pretty goddamn weak! And on that note, in the first film the predator hunting Dutch and his crew never attacks anybody that doesn’t have a weapon! I just saw it the other night dammit so I know of what I speak! If Rodriguez wants Predators to be a direct sequel then why fuck with the cannon of the first film to begin with? The only way any of that is going to work is if the humans are given weapons, but then that would make it just a rehash of the first film! FAIL!!! Not to mention the fact that how fucking challenged are the Predators going to be hunting on their own turf? They seem too much into the sport of the hunt as to do something unsportsmanlike such as that! Sheesh!
Predators, as a whole, belongs on the Tree Of Woe. It’s a movie that not only doesn’t need to be made, it is just a bad idea to begin with.

I totally don’t understand why this is being made. It worries me greatly since two unknown scriptwriters were brought in to rework the screenplay.
Ooh – must respectfully disagree with you on this one. While there is of course a chance (as there always is) that this could suck to high heaven, I’m quite excited about it and think it’s a great idea. You make good points about the logic of the concept, Predators hunting the unarmed, but I should hope the writers will have taken that into account. And much as I admire Rodriguez, him not being the writer really isn’t a bad thing! Most of his best work as a director has been from other people’s scripts. I really feel this could wind up a great movie worthy of the original, which none of the sequels have been thus far. Guess we’ll have to wait & see.
He isn’t the director of this film though, only the producer. To be quite honest I don’t want any movie to up bad but I just have a tingle down my spine about this one.
